    I had solar panels installed on my roof in Sidney, in November 2020, right before rebates for solar panels were announced. I don’t regret it, but nevertheless…

    Is there any way I might petition to get a retroactive rebate? (This is my main question)

    I’d like to make another point I don’t see enough in media, etc. Or maybe it’s a question. It seems to me that solar energy is the perfect compliment to hydro in BC, due to the annual timing of the two sources. Solar is most available in the summer, when hydro is least available. For this reason, aren’t solar installations like mine the perfect compliment to BC’s primary hydro electrical grid? And if so, why isn’t BC Hydro more aggressively supporting installations like mine? Seems like a win-win situation – the homeowner gets free electricity (after the cost of the panels, of course!), and BC Hydro invests less in… hydro, which is also a win for riverine ecosystems including fish, so solar in BC is a win-win-win! Why isn’t there more education and incentives along these lines?
